  • Archer Fish

True to its name, the “water-shooting fish” shoots water from its mouth near the water's surface to hit and catch insects moving across plants above the water. It can shoot water accurately over long distances—up to 3 meters—and its accuracy is said to be nearly 100%. Since it can live in both freshwater and saltwater, it can be found near the surface of brackish water areas where rivers and the sea meet.

  • Patagonian Mara

With its large ears, the Patagonian mara looks a bit like a rabbit, though at first glance it might resemble a roe deer or a sika deer. It is the fourth-largest rodent in the world, following the capybara, beaver, and porcupine. It has four toes on its front feet and three on its hind feet, making it a distant relative of guinea pigs and capybaras. Since they are very skittish, speak in whispers and move carefully when you’re around a mara.

  • Tree Porcupine

It is said that three-toed porcupines spend most of their lives in trees and rarely come down to the ground. They can easily climb trees by gripping them with their long, muscular tails. Their long claws are also a great help when moving between trees. When threatened or annoyed, they raise the quills on their bodies vertically to defend themselves. Their fur, which is reddish-brown when they are young, gradually hardens into spines as they grow.

1. Self-introduction

Zoolungzoolung~! I am Gongsil, a life guardian happily traveling through Zoolung Forest with animal friends and travelers!

2. Why do you work at Zoolungzoolung?

Meeting the animal friends living in Zoolung Forest is the reason I work here.

In particular, Kos and Moss, the capybaras born this past May, are truly special.

Whenever travelers show interest in Kos and Moss and ask questions,

I proudly show off their cuteness to the fullest, naturally conveying the preciousness of life.

Every time that happens, I feel, “I truly love this job and cherish these animals!”

This motivates me to work even harder to create wonderful memories for the travelers.

3. A message to the traveler

Not only at the vacant room, but at the Yeongdeungpo branch, there are many wonderful Zoolung Men who connect travelers with animal friends!

Our Zoolung Men are always doing their best to give travelers special memories.

If you have any questions, please feel free to visit us anytime!

We hope you have a wonderful trip at Zoolungzoolung today. Zoolungzoolung~!
