Guardian of Life Daisy
Mammals
It is a mammal belonging to the edentate order (a group of animals with few or no teeth). It is a distant relative of the anteater and the armadillo.
Tropical rainforests of Central and South America
It is found primarily in the warm, humid jungle regions of Central and South America.
High up in the tree branches
They spend most of their lives hanging upside down in trees. They come down to the ground just once a week, solely to relieve themselves.
herbivore
They mainly eat leaves, young shoots, and fruits. Their digestion is very slow, so it can take up to a month to digest a single leaf.
Extreme laid-backness
To minimize energy consumption, they move very slowly. They have little muscle mass, which limits their ability to regulate body temperature, and they sleep 15 to 20 hours a day.
50cm–80cm
They are about the size of a medium-sized dog, and are characterized by having either two toes (two-toed sloth) or three toes (three-toed sloth), depending on the species.
Green camouflage
It moves at a speed of about 900 meters per hour, and because it barely moves, moss grows on its body, giving it a green camouflage.
Ages 20–30
In the wild, they typically live for about 20 years, but in captive environments where there are no predators and care is excellent, they can live for more than 30 years.
