Guardian of Life

We're good friends

  • Doctor Fish

They are called “doctor fish” because they select and nibble away dead skin cells, leaving only fresh skin behind, which is said to help treat skin conditions. Doctor fish love warm water. They typically live in water temperatures of around 25–35°C, though there are even species that live in hot springs exceeding 40°C.

  • Toco Toucan

The toucan has a beautiful, large beak, which is why it’s also called the “king of birds.” Although the beak looks heavy, it’s actually hollow inside, making it very light. When it’s hot, it channels body heat into its beak and releases it outward; when it’s cold, it contracts its beak to regulate its body temperature. Its tail feathers are red, and when it sleeps, it sleeps with this red tail on display. This is to intimidate approaching predators.

  • Finch

The finch family includes a variety of species, such as goldfinches, canaries, gold-crowned finches, and crossbills. The secret to a finch’s ability to fly lies in its body—specifically, its “hollow bones” and “beak without a jawbone.” Because the center of their bones is hollow and filled with air, and they lack the hard, heavy jawbone that supports teeth, their bodies are lighter, allowing them to fly.

  • Macaw

The Blue-and-yellow Macaw has vibrant yellow and blue plumage. When viewed from above, its blue wings blend into the sky, and when viewed from below, its yellow belly resembles sunlight, which is said to help it evade predators. They enjoy being the center of attention, and when excited, the white part of their face turns pink, just like a human’s. They also have incredibly strong beaks, capable of easily cracking even hard walnuts.
